The Samuel Melton Heights neighborhood offers abundant green space and recreational areas for residents, including a large park area with a gazebo, walking trails, and basketball court.
The Lay Street park area was achieved through Cleveland Housing Authority's redevelopment efforts following demolition of three former residential buildings. The newly-cleared area provided the ideal opportunity to create a green space for the neighborhood. The park is conveniently located within the Samuel Melton Heights development.
A portion of the neighborhood green space is devoted to a "Dream Court." The basketball court was made possible through a partnership between Nancy Lieberman Charities, WorldVentures Foundation & Sport Court, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Ocoee Region and the Cleveland Housing Authority. Local firm, Bradley Concrete, contributed to the project by donating the court's concrete base.
Residents of Samuel Melton Heights, as well as members of the development's Boys & Girls Club (Reba M. Powers Unit), are invited to play on the "Dream Court" and to take advantage of the walking trails and park area for outdoor recreation and exercise.
